MEDLINE INTRODUCTIONıMEDLINE (R), the bibliographic database of the ıNational Library of Medicine, is the primary source in the United States for information from the biomedical literature. The full ıMEDLINE database contains references to articles from more than 3200 journals. Physicians' SilverPlatter: Pediatrics is a subset of the full ıMEDLINE, with records chosen specifically for their relevance to pediatricians. Each reference to an article in ıMEDLINE is called a ırecord or a ıbibliographic citation. The full text of the articles is not in ıMEDLINE, but approximately half of the citations contain abstracts (summaries) written by the article's author. The full ıMEDLINE is international in scope; approximately 75% of the citations are published in English. Physicians' SilverPlatter: Pediatrics contains a ıMEDLINE subset of references to articles selected in a professionally developed search strategy in the field of pediatrics combined with citations from approximately 115 journals, chosen based on their comprehensive coverage of the most frequently used pediatric journal literature focusing on clinical medicine, and emphasizing current diagnosis, treatment and therapy.
